Talacre,
A place in North-Wales where they have a lighthouse which is not in operation anymore. That was the main important thing for us. The area for many years was the last remaining deep mine in the Uk. The Lighthouse was built in 1776, but been inactive since 1844. This was the place we went on Saturday. That is all for the details.
It was about an hour drive from our flat, between somewhere Llandudno and Leasowe, Wirral. The weather was shit at the beginning, as it was raining very hard on the motorway, and even when we got to Talacre. The town was small, all we had to do is follow the signs towards the beach and lighthouse. Apart from this we did not see anything from it.
As it was still raining, we sat in a restaurant/pub near the beach, which looked quite "old". They did not have capuccino, nor latte, so I went for a "normal" coffe with a lots of milk, and Mrs. Smith, and another friend of us Orsi went for a tea. I payed 2,5GBP for all of it. The waitress/owner? was a nice lady, she was originally from Manchester. A couple years ago she moved to Talacre, and she said she would never go back.
After having our coffe, we headed down to the beach. It was still raining, but we did not care. At arriving, we have seen a nice view, with sand dunes and the top of the lighthouse, but to make a good photo we had to go closer to the Landrovers were standing in the parking place.
When we got close the owner of the cars approached us, as he thought we came for the "Landrover Safari". Well, we did not. However they offered us for a 20 minutes trip between the sand dunes, and some historical information for 1 pound each. Bargain.
So we went for it. We learnt a lot, we heard about the gas pipe was lead to the sea, and about the dunes were "moved" away, then moved back again, layer by layer. It was really interesting. It was still raining outside, therefore we were not in a run. :-)
Then we finished the trip and got down to the beach. We made a lot of pictures as it was still raining, however not so intesive rain as it was before. Then when the rain just became calm, we tried our 1,99Ł kite. The wind was ok, but we were not so professional, so it gave us some giggles while we were trying to fly it.
The weather became good in about an hour, sun shined, however big dark clouds started to gather in the sky behind us. We went back to the car, as it was too warm to wear jacket, had some sandwitches, and got back to the beach wearing only T-shirts.
The weather changed a lot, it turned out to be great. This was showed by the ammount of people got to the beach too. The wind became stronger, so we tried our kite again, with great success. It flew. Flew really high. "I'm gonna be high, as a kite by then" - Elton John
We were playing around, and had probably three storms passed us, without dropping any rain. However somewhere people got that nasty rain for sure.
Mrs. Smith has got in the water up till her knee, however a tricky wave almost washed her away. At least her jeans were soaked. :-)
The lights were great for taking pictures, and the whole day was very relaxing and calm. We enjoyed that very much. We got back to the car around 17:00 and arrived home by 18:00. Was a great day indeed.
We were missing the "Bishops" however we can not stop visiting lighthouses. For next week we are planning some boat trip again to another lighthouse in Anglesey, and for the long weekend: Scotland. And the WHALEWATCHING.
But in the meantime, enjoy the photos.
