Nailed it!!! Two probation periods have been successfully completed this month. First, I am over the 3 months probation at work, I had a nice chat with my boss - after I needed to remind him that I overdue - where he told me they were happy with my performance and he got good feedbacks from other colleagues as well, so no issue here. I told him I was also extremely pleased, so hopefully this will be a place to stay. Now rock on private medical care :) and company mobile :)
My second probation was a longer process and a more difficult one to achieve, but I HAVE DONE IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I am now officially a confirmed Special, which means I am not destined to be paired up with a regular officer anymore, now I am free to go on duties on my own. Why is this a big deal? Let me tell you how it was before. Although I got my police powers from the beginning I have completed my training - so technically I had the powers to arrest, carry out any police activity, etc, but my duties were always limited as I could only go out paired up with either a fellow special or a regular officer. Obviously this was always favoured by the skippers because most of the units are single crewed, so a double crewed unit is very handy, but on the other hand it did not give me full flexibility. But this is now over. I can just turn up at the station get my kit and go for individual patrols on my own.
As soon as I complete the driving course, I will be able to drive police vehicles as well (not with blue lights tho), but this will need some time. On the other hand, even I am confirmed, I am not planning to do duties on my own, because I am aware how huge responsibility to do it. One single mistake and you end up in prison. So it is always good to have someone on my side who have more experience due to the fact that he/she is doing this for a living, and also being double crewed is always a benefit.
Anyway, the feeling is great, that now all the obstacles are cleared out of my way, and let's be honest - and please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to brag here - but I have achieved something HUGE despite of English is not my first language, in fact, I only came to this country 4 years ago. And this feels awesome. I wanna keep on doing policing as long as I have time, because I know I can learn a lots of things, I can develop new skills which could be helpful for different situations of my private life too. And don't forget, I can keep continue working with GREAT people, and belong to a "family" where my input does not stay unrecognized.
