... just been incredible busy.
I don't want to believe, that it has been one month since I started working in my new position. Time flies so quickly, it is hard to believe.
So what happened in the last month?
- My younger brother came to the UK to have a job interview at McDonalds. He stayed for a week, the interview was successful, so he got the job. During that week, he had National Insurance interview as well, so he only gonna need a bank account. That week was crazy, as I was working, so Mrs. Smith had to help him out, going to the town, escorting him to the NI interview, etc. At the weekend, we visited Beachy-Head on Saturday, and Bodiam Castle again, which was great. (Thanks for being National Trust members, we did not have to pay the entrance fee. It was a long drive again (2x204km), but still not that, but the trips to the airport were exhausting. (4x170km) In that week, you do the math, I drove so much, I got really fed up with that.
- My brother starts working on the 30th of March, so we'll need to find a flatshare for him asap
That how is how a usual week goes:
- Monday, I go to Wing Tsun training
- Tuesday, the girls have Salsa, during that we have beer-o-clock at the local pub with friends. (girls are practicing in the next room)
- Weekends - Badminton in Felixstowe with friends. Two courts, two hours, 8 people. Exhausting as hell, but at least I move around my fat belly, and hopefully losing some weight un the long run. These are our weekly routines, we try to keep ourselves.
Also happened:
- Went on my second police patrol. Seen car crash, police tackling down the drunk driver, attempted burglary, helped a homeless girl, foot patrolled the city. I started on Friday evening at 8pm, and finished at 4am. It was a great night, and I learnt so much. I can not wait to join them properly. I think this will be an interesting part of my life.
- I bought a leather office chair (to be comfy), and also an office table, and set one part of our bedroom as a working office. Not bad I have to say. Also I bought Ethernet over Power adapters, so now I have internet literally on the electric network of the flat.
- Also my police SWAT boots arrived, so I was quite happy. BTW, all the papers, drug-test, security checks, employment history, all the personal and work references worked out, so I am able to start my police training in about two weeks. (If work let me do it) It was such a long run with all of these documentations, but finally I am there, and soon I will be a PC. Smith :)
- Found out, that we have now Streetview of Ipswich in Google Maps. Great. One day I saw the Google car passing by our building, we stood on the balcony, but still don't see ourselves on the streetview. Bugger.
- I was oncall this week, with no call-outs so far, (knock on wood) but still I found it hard to sleep when your mind is waiting for a call/sms to come. I will not like this I am sure.
I realized we are spending more and more time with our friends, and our social life could not be better. To be honest, I was not so active and busy ever in my life. Which is great, and I enjoy it the most.
Spring seems to be here, so hopefully BBQ season starts soon :).
We would really need to talk with our great friends ... Bishop girls, but we just did not have the time in the last month. My brother's visit was rescheduling our life for a week, and also the future with having him in the UK seems to be even busier. Because of the on-call, and the police training, all my weekends will be booked until June. Long time, and I can listen to Mrs. Smith complaints already, that we will not spend much time together for weeks. I explained to her, that this is just a phase, which I am gonna have to go through, then my police activity will be more flexible than this.
Work is still incredible busy, I usually have my lunch around 3-4pm, as I just can't get time for that. I am flooded with trouble tickets, and solving issues fills my whole day. On one hand it is horrible, but on the other hand, I can get back in "shape" in the Telecom World, and re-gain my lost experience in voIP, and learn new things, which is great. On the long run, it will make me more experienced, and more valuable in my position, so this can not be so bad.
And at the end
I will be 30 years old in 18 days. Scares the sh*t out of me to be honest ....
