222nd - Visited again

2009.09.01. 12:08 ZmanUK

Well,

I visited Wales again. This Monday we had Bank Holiday, so decided to go and visit out friends up in Chester for the weekend.

Suffolk was promised to be sunny over the long weekend, which was true, however Wales was cloudy and rainy as always.

Our friends lived in Manchester before, and then moved down to Chester, and as they said, they did not regret it.

We left Ipswich on Saturday morning, at around 6:20 and got to Chester almost 5 hour later. (390km long journey) The temperature dropped drastically, and when I got out of the car in Chester, lots of memories came back about the time when we lived in Manchester.

My friends, who lived up north, you all know the feeling. It is a bit dark, depressive, but still, somehow - and maybe because of the beauty of the countryside there - wonderful.

After unpacking we got in the car again, but this time not in ours, and headed to Llandudno. This is the city I want to visit over and over again. Every time good memories get me when I am there. The weather was partly cloudy, so we had some sunshine at the beginning, but then we got some showers too. The temperature was quite cold, comparing to Suffolk.

Of course we did not miss climbing down to the seaside at our "secret" place, (some idiots brought down the bench from the Marine drive above). Like it was an act of God, our batteries for the camera went dead, when we were there, so could not make many pictures, and miraculously they all went back to normal as we left the place.

Anyway, we could visit the lighthouse again, talk to the owner again :)))) (talking to the owner had a purpose I would not like to reveal right now), and could show the place to our friends as well, as they never been there before.

After visiting Great Orme, we went to visit some towns in Snowdonia.

Llangollen, and Betws-y-Coed, which I still can not pronounce. This was the first time we were in Snowdonia, and guys I am telling you, all we heard about it was true.

The colours were wonderful, green, yellow, red, lilac, etc :). Narrow roads, stepp mountains, mist covered peaks were everywhere. Lovely towns, surrounded with huge trees, and small rivers were around. Fantastic place that is for sure.

We visited the famous Aqueducts, what I have never seen or heard before. Andi and Balazs had invited us to join them in a boat rent, and shipping across Wales next summer, hopefully we will be able to do that, as this seems to be great fun for all.

You can rent long boats, for around £300-£400 / per week or something, then all you need to do is to buy the Diesel and off you go. You can ship along these long channels by yourself, stop anywhere, and have great fun. No supervision, and you are on your own 100%.

We got home quite late that day, and had dinner at our friends place, and went to sleep around midnight. The next day, we visited Chester, which is a real lovely town indeed, then unfortunately we had to leave and get back to Ipswich.

The temperature was around 15 degrees Celsius In Chester, and when we got to Ipswich, it turned to be 24 degrees sunny :) That is how much difference between West and East coast of the UK. Incredible.

We have agreed to visit Snowdonia again this year around October/November. Dress up fully waterproof, and head against the mountains, and climb them. Would be great outdoor activity, and I am sure, we could see fantastic scenery.

Now officially Wales is my favorite part of the UK, probably not only because of the scenery, but all the memories I have visiting it many times.

So now I am back in Suffolk, yesterday there was 27 degrees Celsius, (perfect weather), but the area still flat, no mountains, no blue sea, no dark green plants, no wonderful lawn. :(

But I can not have everything ...
