Well, holiday is over. :( I should have written earlier, but I just did not have the mood.
Our trip to Cornwall was wonderful. The weather could have been better (as it rained a lot), but I still enjoyed it.
7 hours drive from Ipswich down to Penzance went amazingly quick (Distance is equivalent with travelling from Ipswich to Glasgow). Rain was pouring down, so windscreen wipers operated on the quickest speed, but the roads were fine to drive.
We arrived to our hotel at around 14:00 on Sunday. The landlady was very kind with us, we got a nice room, with ocean-view from our window. And also we had our own lighthouse to look at, at the nearby pier :)
OF course, after the first walk in the city centre we got totally wet, so we had to ask her, to put our clothes in her thumble-dryer. :)
In the afternoon we went for a small drive, to look around, and also visited some places. The roads were incredible narrow, in many cases it was only a single lane dedicated to a bothway traffic. It was scary sometimes :)
As we were at the most south-westernly point in the UK, there were many things to see.
Castle on the top of a mountain-island (St. Michael's Mount), Land's End, a complete theatre carved into the rock with a fantastic ocean view (Minack Theatre), wonderful bays and beaches (Porthcurno , Sennen Cove, Bedruthan Steps), Lighthouse at the most southern point of England (Lizard Lighthouse).
We visited Eden Project near Newquay, where we could get dizzy in a real rainforest climate :)
Also went for a wildlife tour on inflatable speedboat on the Atlantic, saw some dolphins :)
And also:
- Watched sunset over Land's End
- Walked into the Atlantic Ocean
- Watched surfers at dusk
- Watched coming of the high tide from a rock
- Seen many seals from the beach
- Watched cormorans from our hotel window
- Bought Wellies :)
- Visited beautiful lighthouses
- Felt the mild atlantic breeze on our face (then on the other second, we got the icy cold atlantic water splashed in our face - as we were on a speedboat shipping north along the coast)
- Joined National Trust - got a free towel :)
- Seen the rough Atlantic
- Seen the sunny and peaceful Atlantic
- Had a milkshake/latte overlooking the Atlantic
So to sum it up. It was PERFECT.
Imagine a place, which is half Wales, and half of Scotland in beauty, and also an additional 20% of Hawaii, to make it a 120% perfect place to stay. Now I understand why people love this place, and keep coming back every year. (I'll have a short post about cornish people soon)
However the weather was not good always, but at least we could experience all faces of the Atlantic, and seen many wonderful things. There are not really much to say about it, just look at the pictures ...
