Michael Jackson has passed away yesterday.
I am shocked. He was probably the only "singer" in my life, who I have listened to his music since I was a kid.
I remember getting the first and only walkman as a Christmas present from my parents, with 3 tapes. We were poor that time, however my parents contantly kept trying to get us many things. Of course we had to understand if something was too expensive, but it did not bother us that much. The walkman was a great present, and an unexpected one.
The walkman itself looked like a big red brick, and had only 3 buttons (Play, Forward, STOP). I had to remove the tape and turn in order to play the opposite side. But in that time, that was PERFECT, and MODERN. In order to save the battery life, we were rolling back the tape to the starting position with a pencil sticked into one of the hole in it. I clearly remember which were the first 3 tapes in my life that time.
1. Michael Jackson - BAD
2. Pet Shop Boys
3. Fancy
I was about 8 years old, and I can remember I was listening and listening his songs, laying under the christmas tree, while I was able to sing it with my "fake-english". It was one of the best present I ever got, probably my parents still don't know how much it meant.
I think he was a remarkable singer. He had a great impression to the whole world's music. As I was getting older, I watched his movie, got the further albums he had, and became a "fan".
In the last 10 years he was not active, and all you could hear about the child molesting cases, which made him a pervert sick man in my eyes, but the music remained.
And no matter what kind of person he really was, (I guess we will never know) how many operations he had, his music was still an inspiration for millions of people around the globe.
You can not find any person who could not recall a song of his, or would not have a favourite Jacko song. I am sure, there are still many people listening to his songs, doing his dance moves, doing MOONWALKS, etc ....
You could either like him or not, but one thing can not be taken away: Jacko was really the true king of pop, and he will be missed...
