Finished another year in the UK. I cannot believe another year has gone, and we entered 2011. I think this is the time when we realize getting old means time pass by and leaves us behind.
I quickly checked my calendar and photo albums and decided to sum up all the things happened with us in 2010.
- Drove through a snow-covered Europe to Hungary and sold our Astra in 4 days
- Bought a Daewoo Kalos back in the UK as a temporary car (worst car ever)
- Got a new job and began to work from home for another telecom/software developer
- Had my younger brother over and organized job interview for him despite of his non-existing English knowledge
- Visited Bodiam Castle and Beachy Head lighthouse for the 2nd time :)
- Later on moved my younger brother over to the UK, and had him living with us for 5 weeks (that was difficult). Finally he got the job and working there ever since. (Also found him a place to live and dealt with all the official things he needed to start his life in the UK)
- Celebrated my 30ieth birthday
- Began my police training over the weekends
- I sworn in at the Magistrates as a police officer
- In June I became a police officer, got all my friends invited to my graduation ceremony and police parade.
- Went home to Hungary - visited friends - family and also Lake Balaton with the Bishops
- Got married in Hungary - best party ever!
- Bought a 50" plasma :)
- Visited Dover castle and White Cliffs
- Bought a GREAT car and later on managed to sell the Daewoo
- Visited Alison and the kids when they came over to the UK
- Spent a wonderful weekend in North Devon (observed a pod of Dolphins during their hunt for fish and visited fantastic sites)
- Went back to Hungary again for a week by car - long drive again. (friends meetings again)
- Grew a trucker mustache ... and got rid of it as well :)
- Went to Snowdonia for a weekend, and climbed our first proper mountain. This was one of the best experience in our life.
- Had a great Halloween party also met new Hungarians
- Played badminton almost every weekend in this year with friends
- Baked a cake for Mrs. Smith for her birthday
- Suffered the snow situation in the UK, also enjoyed it a lot
- Bought a Samsung Galaxy S (A truly fantastic phone)
- Celebrated Christmas with my wife and brother, cooked a lot, ate a lot :)
- Had a great New Year's Eve party where we ate a lot and danced :)
As I look back to 2010 I have to say it was a year full of experience and events, lots of things happened to us. I managed to do more and more policing, achieved many things and I have to say I love living here. Unfortunately my daily work - which I don't like - makes everything bitter. Not sure if this will improve in 2011 or stay as it is now, but don't think I will be able to handle it if nothing will change. My life is full of fun, social events, I love policing as well, so would be sorry to leave all this behind, but if I cannot cope with my current job in the future we will have to consider alternative solutions.
I keep telling to myself, you cannot get everything right, something has to be bad :) And at the moment it seems to be my job, which however puts bread on the table, but gives me too much headache.
