Many things happened since I wrote, but as usual as I have no time, here comes the briefing:
- Drove back to Hungary, through 2000km, the last 80km in deep snow, with slipping car on the highway. Miraculously I did not wreck the car, and we could sell it on the day we left Budapest. So finally no more Hungarian car for us. The snow situation was crazy over there, but I enjoyed it a lot, as I had this experience such a long time ago when I was a kid.
Back in the UK, this week was quite busy. I had to go:
- Substance misuse test on Monday (Drug-test)
- Uniform fitting on Tuesday - finally I was dressed up properly as a policeman, with bulletproof-vest, and tactical vest, etc. They even measured me for the police hat, and the traditional "bobby" helmet. It was such a great fun. I have to buy myself a pair of tactical boots tho, but don't mind, as I can not wait to start my training
- On Thursday, I had the exiting interview in London, so I drove there (over 2 hour journey), my Indian colleague joined me (was quite happy with that), then had a last lunch with my boss, and with him, and we drove back to Ipswich
- Friday, I had to drive to London again, for an interview at the Czech Embassy. I need to get a Crime Register Certification (good conduct) from the Czech Police hence the interview. I parked the car at my great friend's (Matteo) place near Cricklewood, who came with me to the embassy, so finally we had a lot of time to chat, and catch up.
We also went to KFC for a quick junk-food lunch, where I found 5 quid wrapped up in a Sainsbury receipt. Next to our table there were some Hungarian girls chatting. (Hungarians are frickin' everywhere)
After this I did some shopping on Oxford street, and finally could meet with Mr. O, which was great. We popped into a Starbucks at Tottenham Court Road, and stayed there for some time. We have not seen each other for ages (more precisely since 2007 December), so it was a great meeting. I was wondering why I should not organized this meeting earlier.
Anyway, after this, I went back to Kilburn, where I left my car, said goodbye to my friend, and drove back to Ipswich. As it was Friday afternoon, at the end of the office hours, you can imagine the traffic. Accidents, and traffic jams slowed me down, so it took me over 3 hours just to get home. I was quite upset. Could not commute to London by car that is for sure. - Saturday, we went to do some shopping in the MAKRO, (same as METRO in Europe) with friends, who were late as usual, then got home, had something to eat, and off we went to play badminton for two hours. We booked two courts for two hours each, and gathered 8 people there to play. It was great. The only downside was my sickness. Last time when I was leaving the place I got cold, which became worse. I was convinced I played badminton yesterday with fever. I am medicating myself with 2500mg of Vitamin C and with the usual Paracetamol, hope it helps. Badminton was great anyway, however the last half an hour I decided not to play, because I felt burning inside.
At the end of the game we all went over to one of our friends place, and cooked Hungarian Goulash, while we were chatting and having fun. We stayed there until 11pm. - Today, I wanna talk to a McDonalds manager, as I want to bring over my younger brother to get him some experience. After this I have to pack my suitcase, as I am gonna have to spend the next week up in Leicester, where I will have my induction week, at my new job. Today afternoon we are gonna go to a Hungarian meeting being held in Chelmsford, and who knows when it finishes.
My next week will be interesting as well, as I will start from Monday to Thursday up in Leicester, then I will drive back to Ipswich, so on Friday morning I could drive to London again to visit my company's London based server rooms. Will be fun for sure.
On Monday, I will get all the new equipments, laptop, iphone, voip phone, vpn router, etc, required for a home based job.
I am quite happy we bought a car with a low mileage in the UK, as I will increase this drastically in no time. So my next days will be about travelling around again.
And additionally, one of the Hungarian police cadet who came here from Budapest over the summer for a 3 months training with the Suffolk police, got himself some kind of higher education course for a couple months up in LEICESTER. :)
So hopefully we'd be able to meet up for a beer each night :)
Busy days I foresee :)
