Last weekend we saw Avatar. Booking the tickets was not easy, I saw the places disappeared in every minute during online reservation, but this was understandable.
Anyway I could book 4 tickets for the Greenwich Odeon iMAX cinema, so off we went.
The roads were quite clean (A14, M25, A13), although the temperature was below 0, still made it to London in decent time. The cinema was full of people, we had some time before showing, so ate a pizza in Pizza Hut, had milkshakes, so indulged ourselves a bit.
Then went to the cinema, and got seated.
From this moment, we had a 160 minutes long OMG and WTF feeling. It is very difficult to describe the movie. Let's say, that this was probably my best visual experience I had in my life. The actors/computer-generated aliens, were so REALISTIC, you wanted to touch them during the movie. You FELT you were in the jungle with them, you were FEELING DIZZY looking down from incredible heights. It was truly incredible. The story was alright as well, however this movie was made for the visual effects. At the end, our normal world, seemed to be so boring, that actually you wanted that "world" to continue. The face of the real actors were implemented on these blue-skinned natives which were computer generated, that you could not tell they were not real people. Incredible. The beauty of Zoe Saldana was visible even through the blue skin, even tho the "person" was fully computer generated.
I am 100% watching this movie again in 3D. This would be a great way to compare the two technologies (normal 3D, and iMAX 3D)
Technically we spent all our day on Saturday, to travel to London, watch the movie, and travel back, but it worthed it.
I suggest everyone, if you did not do it so far, to go and watch this movie in 3D! You will not be disappointed...
