Last week, I made a "small" mistake. Every week we are having conference calls on Tuesday at 9am, just to touch ground, and see how things are.
These calls are ongoing since I started to work for this company, but nowadays more important especially as I have nothing to do just to wait for updates.
As recently I have sentenced to "work from home", but without actual things to do, my days are pretty much boring. I browse on the net, study ocasionally, etc.
So anyway, last week, I received a call on my mobile phone at 9:35. My colleague called me asking if I was on the call.
Maaan, I got nervous instantly, as I FORGOT TO CALL IN.
Let me quickly explain what is a conference, if you never had it before. There is generally a chairman, who opens the call, until he-she joins, the participants are listening to music. When the chairman joins, conference starts, and the participants can either talk to everyone or mute themselves.
Well, my manager did not check who was on the call, as it is only 2 people left in the team, so she was just talking to my colleague and me suspecting everything is alright. Well, I wasn't there.
After my colleague's "reminder" call I had to call up my manager and confess my sin, as I had to ask her about my holiday request approval. She was laughing when I admitted forgetting the call, and also pointing out, that 50% of the team was not present at the call :-) and I felt terrible and very embarrassed.
To be honest this is the ONLY thing I have to pay attention now, and I was not able to do that. I am a keeper, right? :-) This is a clear message to my HR, that I am the kind of person who needs to stay with the company :-)
Anyway, one week passed, I set several alarms, and reminders on my mobile, Outlook, Blackberry. I got reminded by Mrs. Smith, my colleague a night before, etc. So today I did not forget it.
I called in at 8:55 and was listening to music until 9:30. The chairman did not arrive to the call. :-) ...
