Day before yesterday, we went down to Viewpoint road in Felixstowe, which is the northern end of the port. The sun was about to set, so we quickly walked around, and took some pictures of the ships.
Felixstowe port never sleeps, at all time of the day, you can see huge ships with containers are shipping out to the North-Sea.
It was a great walk in the sunset (however the sun sets at the west, which would be more enjoyable from the Welsh part of the country). Later that, we were invited to visit a Hungarian couple I met a couple days ago. They live in a very nice house in Felixstowe working as a home care assistants. They are a lovely couple, we really felt like visiting old friends back in Hungary. That evening was great.
Then yesterday evening we had a meeting, or get-together party with the fellow Hungarians here in Ipswich.
We gathered at our "favorite" place, at PALS, and after I got my beer, at least 50 people rushed in to the pub, attacking the bar wearing fancy dresses. There were mariners, lifeguards, Napoleon, etc. Girls dressed up as they usually do in the UK, leaving nothing for the imagination :-)
And they all were under 18. (But still got drinks at the bar)
Anyway, a couple minutes later, just when we began to chat with each other, they turned the volume up on the LCD TVs, as Leeds - Liverpool were playing live.
And this was the end for us there. It was so loud, that we decided to split and chose another place to stay.
So we walked for a couple minutes, and ended up in a real classy place a pub with huge leather armchairs (I call them "Morpheus" chair, from Matrix), and nice interior.
At the end, there were 10 Hungarians there, discussed many things, received new gossips, infos, etc.
I heard that a port worker (truck driver) inside the port of Felixstowe, earns 30K gross/ann, which is a good money, even in Telecoms. Weird.
So, If I will get fired, would be worth considering a job like that :)
We met 4 new people in the last week, so the community gets bigger almost day-by-day. I have never been a community oriented person before, but so far, it seems we are the glue holding the group together. And it feels good. :)
