220th - Cornish People

2009.08.12. 13:03 ZmanUK

After living in Hertfordshire, London, Manchester, Ipswich, and visiting Scotland, Wales several times, I had a certain image in my head about English people (Welsh, Scottish). I can say they are generally nice and kind, and helpful (there are exceptions of course).

Before I moved down to South-East of England from Manchester, my dear colleague warned me about the people here. He told me, people in East of England are not so nice than people from the north, and they are quite racist sometimes.

Well, I can not deny it, there is major difference between people from East-Anglia, and people from Northern parts of the UK. They certainly have some kind of typical behavior against foreigners, and also noticed that they are not that kind to anyone.

It was the time to go and meet people from Cornwall.

Guys, we were surprised. We did not expect people be SO KIND. Just like in stories we heard about the UK. I always learned how English people are nice to everyone, how polite they are, etc, but did not experienced fully until I visited Cornwall. (And I am wrong again, because these are Cornish people :))) Forgive me for this )

Imagine, you go to the shop, and people on the streets are welcoming you, having chat with you. In the shop, the cashier starts talking to you about many things, they give information, they are interested in your opinion. It is truly amazing.

Every single one of them helped us, and were very kind. We got the highest level of customer care there, and we really felt ourselves precious. Wish it was the same everywhere. It was really difficult to leave, but I am very happy I could experience this kindness.

When we were telling about our good experiences to our "landlady" in the guest house we stayed, she was delighted. Then she told us: "English people at the East has a certain attitude don't worry about that"

It was a great experience, not only to see that part of the country, and explore it, but to meet so many kind people...
