Today I did a stupid thing.
I have bought liquid a couple days ago in Tesco to clean my contact lenses. I did not really pay attention that this liquid was peroxid solution and not multipurpose solution. Now I know the difference.
It had its own lens-holder, whith some strange metal staff at the bottom of this holder. In the first day I have placed my contact lenses in it, fill it up with the liquid, which reacted with the metal part at the bottom, and started to create bubbles. The following morning I placed the lenses on my eyes, and it was normal.
But at the evening, I have put my lenses back to their previous plastic holder, and filled them up with this solution. This morning I woke up, went to the bathroom, and placed one of the lenses on my eye.
Then the horror started: I began to cry, and scretch my eyeball. It felt like I splashed acid in my eye. In a second I could scretch out the lens from my eye, and began to wash out my eye with running water. My eye turned fully red, and it was aching.
THEN I read the instructions, which said, only use this liquid with its holder, as the metal part is neutralizing the liquid in 6 hours, that is why you can place the lenses into your eyes after the following morning.
But without its special holder, the liquid stays peroxid solution, which is not the best to put in your eye.
Anyway I was washing out my eye for minutes, then I came to work. The redness disappeared, however my left eye still "crying", and in pain.
I am a total idiot. I agree.
And the big question at the end: Have you ever tried to open your eye with force, when the pain makes your eyelids close tight? Almost impossible.
