On Sunday, despite of feeling myself shit, we took our friend Daniel and his new flatmate Anita to IKEA, where they shopped for a while, then we ate good IKEA food :-)
In front of the IKEA we had a meeting with another hungarian couple, who joined us, and we went for a "short" trip to Peak District.
The District itself was not far away so we got there soon. We made our first stop near some nice hills/mountains (I don't know how to call them). I always wanted to climb some of these hills in Scotland, and as they looked exactly the same, we decided to go for it.
It was a long walk to the top in a very steep ground, so reaching the top took away all our strength. The wind became violent up there, so we made come pictures, and decided to walk down to the cars.
The view was incredible from up there. Really stunning. Little Scotland. Can not describe it. I really advise everybody should go and see for themselves. At the bottom of the hill, we have found some rocks/walls, we could climb for practice, which was a good fun. The girls were chasing sheep on the fields (of course they were more afraid than the sheep), could not catch any.
Then we continued our journey to the Devil's Arse, which is a cave in Castleton. Reaching the Speedwell Cavern, where you could go in the caves and use the undeground boats, we were passing through the Winnets Pass.
Winnets Pass was just incredible. Imagine a 2 tall mountains, which have a narrow valley between them. The mountains are covered with green grass, they have great peaks and white spots (sheep) around everywhere on them.
We parked our cars and decided to go for it, a "nice walk" to the top of the mountain. The way was very very steep, and I will be honest, I had got scared. On some strange reason climbing on any rock wall does not scare me at all, however walking up on a steep passage to the mountain scares me a lot. Somehow I did not feel myself secured, and I felt I could not get stop myself if I would have slipped. Also I did not feel myself well at all for this walk, as I had high temperature in the morning, and I was still sick.
Imagine the point, when you are so exhausted, that you can not even move your feet, to climb up higher. And you have to. Everybody wanted to see the narrow valley below, so we kept on climbing. It seemed it took ages to reach up the end. But I have to say, the view was compensating us. It was truly amazing. See the pictures, I will not bother to describe it.
The way down was even worse, because we were totally exhausted, but finally we made it. Of course some rest and ice cold coca-cola followed.
Then we went to see the Devil's Arse finally. We did not went in the cave, just saw the passage was leading to it, as it was really beautiful. (you can see some pictures about in on Flickr.com)
After the Devil's :-) we went in a pub and had a proper dinner, which was very good, and not too expensive. After the pub, we went home straight away. It was only 45 km from us, so it was really "close", and got home "early". I layed down for a bit, as this trip did not make me feel better.
Manchester's weather is killing me in every 3months. Luckily these are just attempts, and not successful for now :-)
