My pakistanian/english colleague is fasting. He can not eat, drink, smoke anything every day until dawn. For 30 days. (which will be soon over). (Also there is charity involved, which is a very nice thing to do)
I have never really learned about muslim people and their religion, but I was always interested in the Islam, as we learned very few about it in the school. This guy keeps his traditions, which I can appreciate, but on his way he still tries to bend some rules.
Ramadan. I don't really want to explain it so much, if you want you can read about it. But in a nutshell: The fasting part of Ramadan is for 30 days, from morning till the evening. In these period as he said, you can not get yourself any food, or drink, and you have to avoid anything which can harm your body, or change it. (no smoke, no alcohol, no medicin). However with puking up, it can be broken, and you can eat/drink/take medicin for the day. As he was sick one day, he told me, he tries to puke up to break it for the day, so he could take his medications :-)
Dodgy? :-) I am not sure if he was successful, on some reason I did not want to ask :-)
Anyway, he told he organized a huge party when fasting will come to the end, and he will eat as many as he can.
Well, Bon Apetite :-)
