Yesterday a major PJ party was held somewhere in the university for the students. We saw it willl be coming as Mrs. Smith's workplace has sold most of their lingerie and knickers stock to mostly male customers :-)
The streets were flooded with students wearing different nightwears, tights, knickers, t-shirts, pijamas in every color. It was crazy but still very good to see all of these people were having fun. And on some level, I was a bit jelous of this event too.
Comparing the two nations, UK and Hungary, english people know how to have fun. (I am not talking about "bingedrinkingstabbingfighting" kinda stuff) I am talking about the real fun. Only in the UK I have seen so many fancy dress parties, even on an average saturday. If we talk about celebrating birthday, uk is still the leading in this.
The mandatory accessories for a birthday party here are the balloons, hats, funny things, fancy dresses, etc.
Hungarians are behaving much more in a low-key. We don't do many funny things, maybe because we are too shy to do it. We bother too much with other people's opinion, then we end up doing the same "traditional" things, what everybody do. You don't see bunch of girls/boys, dressed up as fairies/cowboys in Budapest. But in Manchester, every weekend this is usual to meet some of them on the street.
English people seem to be more laid back and relaxed people than hungarians (eastern-europeans), and they can organize any meetings, celebrations much funnier that a hungarian would do. That is why I always said, If I'd had to go to a party, I would liked to go to one which was organized by english people.
Couple days ago I was reading on a hungarian blog, when a girl living in the uk was describing english people, and finished saying a very true thing. And this can be said for every nation of the world.
People are not better or worse. They just different.
Probably we will never understand the way how people with different nationalities live their life, what they believe, how they were raised, but this is not the point. We don't need to understand them. We have to accept them, that is all.
