Being proud,
today was a very busy day at work, and as it is usual with busy days are passing by quickly. Today two friends of ours came over and we had a cooking night. (Craig, they were girls, and yes your idea about the cooking night, did sound a bit gay) :-)
They had made a very good meal, it was absolutely nice, and after that we had some conversation about the big things of life, as usual.
Both of them are working as aupairs, and the stories they told, reminded me my miserable life in 2003 when I started the same way here. It also made me look back and get me see the long way I have done so far. Discussing the topic of being aupairs, lead us to say, we have to be proud of ourself. If I were not here in the Uk in 2003, I would not be in Manchester either, and probably I would not write this blog :-).
We have to be proud just like anyone who left their safe home country for a life where you are just a foreigner. Left their family, left their friends, the things we got used to, in order to exhange it for another life in a brand new society, a totaly different country, where nobody speaks your language. (Sorry Slawek, this does not fit the polish people, as in the UK, they are HOME now) :-)
Living around in the world, in different countries, meeting new people, other nationalities, helps us to be better persons, to own the "better picture" of the world, and yes, we should be proud of any work we do on foreign soil. I can say I am a very lucky man, because I met a lot of valuable people and no matter that they are in other countries now, I am sure we'll meet up from time to time.
I think the majority of my readers do understand what I say, as they were/are walking in the same shoes like I do. Many of you are living abroad also, working close to other nationalities, meeting new peoples every day, and regardless the work you do, this is a great thing.
The only thing I am afraid if I will be fully happy back in Hungary, years later, or I am destined to travel and live abroad.
Mrs. Smith is moving here tomorrow afternoon, and will start to look for a new job. The decision has been made, we are not going back to Prague now, and will start to settle down here for a while now. Our cat has been sentenced to spend some time with a nice family who were glad to be fosterparents for a couple months, until he can officialy enter to the UK without the risk of going quarantine.
I hope everything settles down here, and all works out well for the future...
